Are you still looking for the right high chair for your baby? What are the features that are most important for you? For me, it should be stable enough not to fall over (my son climbed into it on his own when he was a toddler!), but easy to assemble and clean. It should have rolls to be moved around without trouble, but they needed to have brakes to be fastened. We used ours from age 5 months through 2 years, and since the Graco Blossom 6 in 1 Convertible High Chair could be used as a booster seat, Lyons Cub was able to sit on just the booster when he was a bigger toddler. If you plan on having more kids, it can be passed down, because it is very durable and sturdy. If you clean it well, it will make a nice re-gifting item, since it will last long. It has a very safe 5-point harness. The feature I liked best was the tray that could be taken off. My son is a messy eater and loves to eat avocado, so when the top tray was totally smeared, I could simply take it off and wash it, while he continued eating on the lower tray.

It’s easy to get baby in and out, which was important to me. The seat is easy to wash off, too. Most days, I just sprayed it down with Lysol and rubbed it with a kitchen paper towel. With the straps, you have to be careful: mine were so full of avocado and other stuff that I put them in the washing machine. My first set was washed with my other clothes at a high temperature, and they shrank! I bought another set for about 10 bucks that I washed cold in the machine, and it worked like a charm: they came out totally clean, and I could put them right back in. It is very simple to take the straps out and put them back in. Thank goodness! I remember the horror story of having to put the straps at different heights in Lyons Cub’s car seat… If you have a messy eater, it might be worthwhile to get an extra set of straps, so one can be taken out for cleaning. I just hated it when food got stuck underneath the plastic buckles.

This is what it looks like when it’s time to wash the straps:

One negative thing (the only one, in my opinion) is that the high chair is big and heavy, so when you don’t need it anymore, it’s not so easy to store away, because it doesn’t fold up like the more flimsy ones. I took it apart to put it in a built-in cabinet.

Here is a video of Lyons Cub in his high chair when he was babbling. I had asked him what it sounds like when mommy talks, and he said: “da-ratta-ratta-ratta.” He’s not far off the mark! 😉

In Germany, the Graco Blossom 6 in 1 Convertible High Chair doesn’t seem to exist, but there are similar high chairs from European brands that can be used as booster seats for when baby is able to sit up unsupported, usually between 6-8 months. I would look for something like that, since high chairs are expensive, and if you use them for only a short time, you want to get your money’s worth. In Germany, the Grow-with-Me 4-in-1 High Chair has a similar booster seat function and, in addition, sports a cute animal design.

If you care more for the brand (I did, because I trusted Graco; that’s what I also used for Lyons Cub’s stroller and car seat), there are Graco high chairs without booster seat available in Germany. Look around and compare.
