Lyons Cub used this swing year round, even when it was covered in snow! He loved it so much and wouldn’t let the neighborhood girls in, so I bought two more swings to avoid trouble! Whenever he had visitors in his front yard, the swings would be occupied. The oldest child was 9 and still fit! I was just worried our little tree wouldn’t support her… 😉
The only downside of the Step 2 swing was that the buckles were really hard to buckle. Sometimes, I was just able to close one of the two buckles. They are needed to keep the infant safely inside. I even tried to oil them, but to no avail. Two of my three swings worked, and one had only one useful buckle. Well, I have a snap finger and generally do have problems to buckle things because of my cracking thumb, so maybe it was my fault and a strong daddy would just laugh about that. Anyways, this swing couldn’t be amiss in the front yard.
By the way, if you noticed the toilet paper roll pierced on a twig in the snow picture, that’s for the snotty nose, which is unavoidable in the winter (almost every day, arghhh…).
The birds will poop on it, by the way, so I hosed it off regularly. Neither sunshine nor ice and snow cracked or discolored it. It was on the cheaper side, and I can’t complain. We had an expensive, Montessori-style horse swing made of wood in the back yard. This is an investment that lasts for many years. Lyons Cub still loved it at 3 years old. Every baby needs a swing!
